1953 Bobby Allen of Pawtucket, representing the Fram

Corp., fired a three-over-par 74 to capture individual honors in the YMCA New England Industrial golf tournament at the R. I. Country Club edging Stan Hargivicz of Pratt and Whitney by one stroke. Allen, a former R. I. Amateur and Open titlist, shot a one-under par 35 on the front side, holing out a 15-foot putt for a birdie two on the fifth and chipping dead to the pin for a birdie four on the eighth. On the way home, however, Bobby had his share of troubles shooting a 39.

1963 One, two, four and six were Les Kennedy’s scores on

the four par-three holes during the second round of the $8,000 Northeast Professional Golf Tournament at Hingham, Mass. Kennedy, the pro at the Pawtucket Country Club, posted a hole-in-one with a four-iron on the 185-yard second hole. It didn’t help him much as he shot 74 and fell 12 strokes behind the leader.

1973 Coach Mike Goodson’s young and inexperienced Cen

tral Falls football team has been plagued with injuries but he is optimistic that the Warriors will be ready for the challenge when they open their season versus South Kingstown. The offensive line starts sophomores Skip Tager and Ron LaFlamme at the ends, 215-pound John Anter and Tom Tinkham at the tackles, sophomore Ed Morgan and Al Fitzgerald at the guards and Bill Rogers at center. The backfield has junior Marc Sawyer at QB, Dan Ryfa and Claude Bergeron at the halfback slots and sophomore Scott Briden at fullback.
