1954 Coach Gig Pariseau’s Pawtucket East eleven is rated

slight favorites over Central’s black and gold as the Redjackets vie for their second victory in seven Class A tilts. The locals’ offensive line starts Johnny McAlmont and Al Orzechowski at the ends, Fred Federighi and George Hadfield at the tackles, Ed Akucewich, a mainstay of the forward wall and rated one of the outstanding linemen in the state, and George Demers at the guards and Ken Crowley at center. Alan McGuy will move in at quarterback with either Bobby Neill or Dick Reynolds at left halfback, Bobby Humphrey at right half and Bill Packer at fullback.

a close game and led Central Falls to a 26-8 win over North Smithfield at Macomber Stadium and improve to a surprising 4-2 in the Class B Small League standings. With the contest deadlocked 8-8 at halftime, QB Marc Sawyer fired a quick pass to Ryfa over the middle, who cut to the sidelines to avoid one tackle, broke two other tackles and did not go down until he was in the end zone, 45 yards later. Mark Bessette (fumble recovery in the end zone), Dave Folan (four-yard run) and Carim Tager (40-yard interception romp) also tallied touchdowns for the Warriors, while a two-yard quarterback sneak by Dave Bliss and a PAT pass from Bliss to Paul Joyce accounted for the Northmen’s points.
