Matrix Winner

-

Alexandra C. Trower, executive vice president of global communications at The Estée Lauder Cos. Inc., will be honored with the New York Women in Communications’ Matrix Award.

“I’m thrilled to be recognized as a 2018 Matrix Award nominee alongside my incredibly talented peers who I admire so much,” she said. “Winning this career-defining award at this meaningful moment reinforces the importance of both speaking up on critical topics and also doing a much better job of listening to those voices who haven’t always been heard.”

The Matrix Award honors women in communications in a number of fields, like advertising, broadcasting and public relations, among others. In addition to Trower, other honorees include Mika Brzezinski, cohost of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” and Kim Kelleher, chief business officer at Condè Nast.

Trower was nominated for the Matrix Award by executive chair- man William Lauder. Lauder will also present Trower with the award during the ceremony in April.

“Over the past decade, Alex has proven to be not just a highly talented communications executive, but also a business strategist and key contributor to the company’s long-term success,” he said. “She has become a close and highly trusted advisor to Fabrizio [Freda], my family and me, and it was my pleasure to personally nominate her for this award.”

Assuming her role at The Estée Lauder Cos. in 2008, Trower has served as a founding member of the company’s inclusion and diversity committee and is the executive co-sponsor of the LGBTQA employee resource group. She also serves as co-chair of the board of directors of the International Women’s Media Foundation, which supports female journalists who risk their lives to cover the news. Trower also is a member of the board of The Estée Lauder Cos. Charitable Foundation and the Secular Society, which support young girls and women with a focus on education. — LAYLA ILCHI
