Freemans Sporting Club took the opportunity of New York Fashion Week: Men’s to introduce its newly renovated flagship to media and influencers.

In early May, the specialty store officially reopened the location at 8 Rivington Street, which was designed by Kazuya Sasaki of Smallclone, who has also worked on Dover Street Market and the Macintosh store in New York.

The design drew inspiration from 19th–century New York with rustic wooden furniture and antiques.

The revamped store was the backdrop for the brand’s spring collection, which was designed by Nikko Lencek- Inagaki, who has been with the brand for eight years.

“We just did a complete renovation and this was a chance to show that off,” Lencek-Inagaki said.

The line centered around mainly natural fibers such as cotton, linen, silk and hemp in pieces including an indigo denim artist’s smock crafted from hemp and cotton. There were colorful camp shirts and shorts, pre-washed and pre- shrunk sport shirts with a subtle Seventies vibe, waterproof shorts and pullovers, and even a denim suit.

The tailored clothing, the category on which the brand built its business, was offered in cotton and linen houndstooth patterns, exploded plaids and black cotton seersucker, many of which are sold as separates.

“It’s not precious,” Lencek-Inagaki said of the line. “It’s a collection that lives with you and fits into your life.”

The collection will be sold at the Freemans store in New York as well as its two locations in Japan, select specialty stores and on Mr Porter.
