M Missoni
Margherita Missoni’s commitment to sustainability continued to influence the M Missoni collection, which was focused on versatile pieces mainly crafted from deadstock fabrics and recycled materials.
Instead of focusing on a specific theme or inspiration, Missoni built another coherent chapter of the relaunch of the M Missoni brand under her creative direction.
The Missoni company’s rich archives remained the main source for patterns, motifs and logo, which the designer mixed and matched, revamped and restyled with her own colorful sensibility.
The brand’s signature knits were rendered in simplified Missoni graphics and were juxtaposed with a new line of jersey pieces, spanning from easy- chic suits to slouchy pants and printed turtlenecks. Textured sweaters featured combinations of deadstock and recycled yarns, while archival patterns, such as pixel- like motifs used in the past for scarves, were refreshed and combined to create charming patchwork effects. Paisley and florals were paired on lightweights dresses with a bohemian vibe, as well as on mannish pajama sets.
Jacquard motifs reproducing painterly still life images were rendered on Lurex separates, while bold daisies popped up on maxi cardigans. Celebrating her family heritage, Missoni also got inspired by the graphic drawings of her grandfather Ottavio, which she embroidered on feather-weight tops and tunic frocks injected with a free- spirited attitude.
The laid- back and joyful spirit of the collection also resulted in the multicolored bags crafted by artisans in Ghana — a new project of Missoni’s longtime partnership with not- forprofit organization OAfrica — as well as in the Venetian slippers enriched with the new M Missoni logo. —
