Digital Kate

Kate Moss is taking her modeling expertise to a new realm: NFTs.

The supermodel is teaming with anonymous artist collective, Moments in Time Collective, for three short videos showing Moss doing mundane activities, which will be auctioned off as NFTs. The three videos are titled “Drive With Kate,” “Walk With Kate” and “Sleep With Kate.”

“Art for me has always been about the moment,” Moss said in a statement. “Time is the thing that there is never enough of and that waits for no one. I’m intrigued by who will want to own a moment of mine. I was also drawn to the idea that this ownership can be used to help others in need hopefully gain more of it. I look forward to seeing this experiment through.”

Moss’ videos will be auctioned as NFTs through digital platform Foundation. Each video will be sold with a unique audio certification recorded by Moss that acknowledges the buyer.

The buyer will also be revealed in a social post through the Kate Moss Agency.

NFTs, non-fungible tokens, have quickly risen in popularity in the art world. NFTs are a type of cryptocurrency that can be used to purchase digital goods. They are digital certificates that authenticate ownership of digital goods such as artwork, videos or audio files, among others, and cannot be traded.

Part of the proceeds from Moss’ NFT videos will benefit model Adwoa Aboah’s Gurls Talk charity, which provides resources and safe spaces for women and young girls to discuss mental health struggles.

Moss’ videos are available for view now on Foundation and will be up for auction on Tuesday starting at 9 a.m. EST for 24 hours. — LAYLA ILCHI estate company Runyon Group — have ventured into women’s.

“Some people might call us crazy for opening a women’s multibrand store in 2021, but we have never done things the conventional way,” the duo said in a statement. “Everyone has been living in sweats and online shopping for the past 13 months, and we can feel people itching to get out and the energy of the city starting to come back.”

Offering about 75 brands (including Ganni, Proenza Schouler, Nanushka, Alexa Chung, La Double J and Bondi Born), Teller is a 2,800-square-foot space with an interior that was designed by Mike Moser and furnished with carefully selected items, all shoppable, such as a Gerrit Rietveldcreated armchair and fiberglass chandelier by Greg Lynn.

Like The Optimist, Miller and Fishbein see Teller as an homage to L. A.

“We are constantly inspired by the multifaceted women of L.A., and most importantly, the women in our own lives,” continued the pair. “Teller is an ode to the women of our city. They constantly inspire us, and we wanted to create a space where they could come and discover something new.”

Teller is located at 8820 Washington Boulevard and online at Tellershop.com.

Villaseñor tapped Future to front the campaign, which sees the Atlanta rapper in a leather top, jackets and parkas, bandanas and a bandana print bag, all from the spring 2021 and fall 2021 collections.

“We shot the campaign months ago,” said Villaseñor. “Future turned down being the face of massive heritage brands, but with us it worked so organically. He’s a supporter of the brand and he and I have a personal relationship.”

In fact, Villaseñor worked with Future on merchandise for the rapper’s “The Wizrd” album from 2019. “Future is one of the few mavericks that created his sound,” he added. “We can come together and marry high fashion and street.”

A women’s campaign is on the way, too. For now, this campaign will stand alone in Los Angeles on billboards.

“I’ve very much focused on the storytelling,” Villaseñor said. “The brand has been driven by the product, but it’s very important to hit the refresh button and make sure the story is clear and concise.”

He added that the holiday season and start to 2021 “has been good for us,” thanks in part to consumers shifting to e-commerce. — OBI ANYANWU
