Bergdorf Goodman is putting the spotlight on Bottega Veneta with an energetic launch of the maison's winter 2023 collection.

For starters, Bergdorf's is offering clients early access to the artfully crafted pieces designed by Bottega Veneta creative director Matthieu Blazy. In addition, the collection will be displayed in a series of installations on the main and sixth floors of the Bergdorf's women's store, and the collection will take over Bergdorf's personal shopping complex on Sept. 7. At that time, clients can preorder pieces from the collection, while sipping cocktails as models stroll by to encourage the shopping.

The Bottega Veneta collection will also be showcased in three of Bergdorf's windows along Fifth Avenue.

“The collection reflects Matthieu's captivating aesthetics, rooted in

Italian craft,” said Yumi Shin, chief merchandising officer of Bergdorf Goodman, a division of the Neiman Marcus Group. “From our iconic windows to the intimate personal shopping takeover, we look forward to engaging customers with this exceptional collection and Matthieu's creative vision,” Shin said.

The collaboration launched Thursday and continues through Sept. 18.

Blazy's show in Milan last February was a dazzler, with beautiful, inventive clothes that proved chic comes in multiple variations. “It's an odyssey of characters,” Blazy told WWD while backstage at the show. “I was very interested in parades, carnivals, where everyone walks in the same direction, and it's a celebration. From Day One, we decided not to edit the collection: We kept on adding, adding, adding characters.”

In a subsequent interview with WWD, Blazy expressed his view on what luxury should be about. “Luxury is something you feel rather than see; it is much more personal and emotive for the person wearing the clothing than for those looking at them,” he said. “I want the wearer to be empowered without the clothing being loud. It is style over fashion in its timelessness.”
