Kuzyk's namesake ready-to-wear label has expanded with the launch of knitwear.

“The brand's signature cool- girl wardrobe pieces expand to an ‘off duty' knit uniform designed to live in,” the emerging designer told WWD. ”Something to wear underneath our hero pieces. Since COVID- 19, I have watched lifestyles change and I am not telling anyone to take off their cozy pants. I wanted to make knit uniforms that felt like they were discovered from the Paris flea market — and that's what we did.”

She added that the collection is all about the details, such as lace trims on sleeves, and was inspired by vintage knits and French archive pieces the designer collected over the years.

“From there I looked at the designs in my closet that get the most wear — functional design like Adidas track pants or the perfect men's crewneck. I transformed these into a lightweight, cashmere cotton blend (machine washable) fine rib and didn't hold back on details like the stitching and trims that brought an element of vintage lingerie.”

Highlights of Kuzyk's first knit collection include a long black tank dress with white knit lace trim; an “Old Man Cardigan” with hand-beaded buttons; a ribbed '60s-inspired high-neck polo sweater in two colorways (yellow with red, black with red), and “trackpants-meets-'60s-long-underwear” knit pants. The line also extends into mix-andmatch layers such as a long skirt with matching bralette or tank, and slouchy T-shirt and miniskirt. Each style was made in Queens, N.Y., plays into the brand's DNA of offering “vintage heirlooms,” and can easily be styled back with the designer's leather outerwear.

The collection is available on the brand's e- commerce site for pre- order, with prices ranging from $ 569 to $ 1,710. In the near future, Kuzyk plans to take the collection to market and host a series of trunk shows.
