Twin 600 hp Cummins QSC8.3 diesels coupled to Zeus pod drives give the nimble 42,968-pound (light displacement) yacht some giddyap. The 590S that I was aboard made 29.5 knots at wide-open throttle (3,040 rpm) in a 2- to 3-foot chop. Cruising at 24 knots, the engines consumed 46 gph. With a 581-gallon fuel capacity, the yacht has a 270-nautical-mile range at cruise speed.
