HANDLED WITH CARE
Twenty-one shipwrights work in Viking’s mill department, handcrafting cabinetry, furniture, moldings and more. Pieces are built from scratch in-house, then are disassembled, sanded, barrier-coated with polyurethane, seal-coated with polyester four times, cured, sanded and then checked for quality control. Only after this process are pieces ready for topcoats; the parts are again sanded multiple times with multiple grits, then given two layers of polyurethane or acrylic-urethane satin finish. Gloss parts are then sanded again before being buffed and polished.
