Yachts Internatio­nal was among three Active Interest Media titles that earned top honors at the 2016 Folio: Eddie & ozzie Awards held in new York City. Winners of best Article in the Automotive/Enthusiast category, Yachts Internatio­nal also received an honorable mention for best Full Issue. sister publicatio­ns Angler’s Journal and Soundings also won awards. A panel of more than 300 judges narrowed 2,800 entries into a pool of roughly 1,000 finalists. In total, more than 250 awards were given out across 33 categories. According to the Italian Sea Group, constructi­on has begun on a 246foot (75-meter) explorer vessel by Admiral Yachts. Called Project 575 to denote the Italian Sea Group’s 575th vessel since 1942, she is expected to launch in 2018. The ice-class vessel’s modern exterior design hides a timeless interior. The brand’s future flagship will be light alloy with four MTU M94 engines enabling a top speed of 38 knots. The design includes retractabl­e terraces, a hot tub, sunpads, outdoor dining areas and a bar and sitting area with a glass hardtop. Launch is scheduled for 2018.

Conceived by Nauta Design and Oceanco, 334-foot (102-meter) Project Spectrum has a hybrid propulsion system and living spaces that are intended to encompass a broad range of options. Large windows and balconies foster a close relationsh­ip to the sea with a seamless flow from outdoor deck spaces to the interior. Efrem “Skip” Zimbalist III, president of Show Management, unveiled the model with Mario Pedol of Nauta Design at the Fort Lauderdale Internatio­nal Boat Show in November. The New Yachts Company has announced a collaborat­ion between Prime Megayacht Platform and Burger Boat Company. According to New Yachts, clients of the Prime 50-meter (164-foot) Megayacht Platform have full control of the look and feel of the yacht, making it a fully custom build experience. Now, an option is available for constructi­on in the U.S. with Burger, offering the sophistica­tion of a custom build with the time and cost savings of a semi-production series.
