Yoga Journal - - CONTENTS -

Yoga Journal sat down with our cover model, Rosie Acosta, to chat about her daily meditation routine.

Q: Why is meditation part of your daily ritual?

A: Meditation is really the only time we can give ourselves to just shut everything out. I always like to say that meditation is our only active form of rebellion, because we’re choosing not to engage with the outside world. Making meditation a daily ritual is where you’ll see the true benefit to your mind, body and spirit, and the same applies to any practice, whether it’s yoga, meditation, or mindfulness.

Q: Why is tea part of your daily routine?

A: One of the things I love about tea is the ritual of it. It’s heating the water, getting my favorite mug, picking the right tea, steeping it, feeling it cool down, and then tasting and smelling the herbs. It really becomes a mindfulness practice that I can do anywhere, at any time.

Q: How does tea support your meditation practice?

A: Chamomile with Lavender Tea is great paired with a meditation practice. They are both very calming, so it’s a natural combination of relaxing herbs. It’s also great to smell this tea during meditation because it creates a more relaxed response.
