Advisory Board Report:

Summer Reading List

-

The YoungRider Advisory Board is excited for summer. Between trips to the barn and the pool, you probably enjoy reading an awesome horse book. Here’s a list of their favorites, so you can keep thinking about horses all summer long, even when you aren’t at the barn!

ALYSSA

I recently finished the 21-book BlackStallion series by Walter Farley. The reason I enjoyed these books so much is because there was a lot of adventure!

maddie

My favorite fiction horse books are the SaddleClub series because they have a wide range of character emotions in each book. My favorite non-fiction books are the PonyClub Manuals— they are so informative! Even if you aren’t a Pony Club member, they still have tons to teach about riding and horse knowledge.

Annika

PaintTheWind by Pam Muñoz Ryan is an inspiring story about a girl who meets a wild mare at her family’s ranch. She and the mare end up creating an amazing bond, which inspired me to learn more about my horse and create a bond like that.

Lila

Right now I am finishing up TheHorseDiaries series. I also like books that tell the unbelievable stories of courageous horses, like Gunner:

HurricaneHorse.

Liz

I love the Pony ClubRivals series by Stacy Gregg. My favorite horse book has to be Winnie TheHorseGentler by Dandi Mackall. I also read a lot of classics like Mistyof Chincoteague.

Halley

I’ve read all of the CanterwoodCrest series. My friend and I swapped them out, reading them as fast as we could to find out what would happen next!

Anna

My favorite horse books include the PonyPals and Breyer-Stablemate series. I also love to read books about horse breeds and how to take care of horses.

Preslee

I loved the book Snowman. It’s about a world-renowned show jumper so famous that presidents watched him! I also really like OnlyForHorse CrazyGirls. It has quizzes, facts and stories about girls who ride.
