The Bark Park is the one and only place in Yuma where dogs can be let off their leashes in public to run and play with other dogs.

The park, located on Palo Verde Street just west of Pacific Avenue, is over three acres in size and features grass, trees for shade, water, agility equipment and benches.

The Bark Park is open Wednesday through Monday from dawn until 9 p.m.The park is closed on Tuesday for maintenance.

It is also an excellent location to socialize with other residents and visitors who share a common love of canines.

But people also need to follow the established rules at the park to maintain a safe environment.

• Only two dogs per person are allowed at a time, and aggressive dogs should be left at home.

• Female dogs in heat should also be left at home.

• Children under the age of 6 are not allowed in the park.

• Also, visitors need to pick up after their dogs when their dogs do their business at the park.

• In addition, all dogs need to be licensed and be current on their immunizations.

• If people observe any animal-related safety concerns at the park, they should call the Yuma Police Department animal control division at 373-4795.
