Thanks to all for great care

Without a great call and an ambulance in proper timing and the know-how to stop the bleeding and the helicopter ride to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix, I would not be here.

Thanks again!

Congratulations to Alice Byrne second grade students!

I am a retired special education teacher from Alice Byrne. I was impressed reading the suggestions the students gave regarding the castle park, but I was even more impressed with the high quality of writing ability shown. It is hard to teach good writing, and the quality shown in these letters is amazing for secondgraders.

I get a little weary of listening to the sad state of affairs in the public schools. Many of the critics are my senior citizen friends, and have not been inside a classroom for 50 years!

Mrs. Hazen and Mrs. Spratt are to be commended, as well as the students.

Keep up the good work!

I had an interesting experience while shopping recently. I stopped by the relatively new (less than a year) Tractor Supply Company on west 32nd Street. Since it is close to my home, I shop there frequently. The manager approached me and inquired if there was anything he could help me find. We struck up a conversation and he observed that I was the only customer in the store just then; less than desirable!

In the ensuing conversation, I learned that this store actively supports the local 4H clubs, FFA, and

and related moral rights. they made material donations for the 4H exhibits and the county fair. Last fall, the west-side store along with the Foothills store, collected a sizable sum of money donations for the local 4H chapters.

This store employs a staff of 15, all hired locally. The manager used to work for the old Kmart store, years ago, before they packed it in and left.

It is interesting to just browse around the store and look at the various items of merchandise. For example, when you first walk into the store, you will see on display a veritable zoo of miniature, life-like animals and birds for sale. I found my school mascot, the buffalo, although I have been reluctant to admit it in recent years during football season. Their merchandise is competitively priced, and the manager says he will price-match his competitors.

This store sets a good example in the local business community. You city and county administrators who are striving to attract more businesses and jobs into Yuma, how about striving a little harder to support the ones that are already here, namely Tractor Supply in this case? Next Saturday morning when you set out to buy parts to repair something, or need some new western/work wear, pet food or whatever, check out this store. It will be a pleasant experience and they will be happy to serve you. By the way, this advice holds true for the entire community and any day of the week. They deserve our support.

Once again, Lowe’s came through for me!

From Sergio all the way down to everyone who helped me with the purchase of my pergola. How great is that? To everyone, thank you! Go somewhere else? No! I know what to expect from Lowe’s.

Yuma Good news for F-35 program

in Yuma

Even though most of us here in Yuma strongly support the Yuma Air Station, I feel as though the news that affects it can sometime go under the radar (pun not intended). Recently - it was announced that the F-35 fighter jet is doing so well in its production efficiencies that its costs are below projections and will be roughly equal to that of previous generation fighters. This is big news for a plane that has seen its fair share of detractors nationally. It’s a relief to know that the cost of the program is under control and that we can look forward to the continued success of the F-35 training program here in Yuma.
