Man, girlfriend arrested in deadly armed robbery in Phx.

PHOENIX — A man and his girlfriend have been arrested in connection with a deadly armed robbery at a Phoenix motel last month.

Phoenix police say 32-year-old Quincy Lofton was booked into jail Tuesday on suspicion of murder, robbery and possession of a weapon by a prohibited possessor.

Under Arizona law, suspects can be charged with murder if the crime they’re participat­ing in comes with a reasonable likelihood of death.

Police say 31-year-old Fatuma Hassan was arrested on suspicion of hindering prosecutio­n.

Quincy and Hassan were arrested Tuesday at a Tempe motel.

It’s unclear if they have lawyers.

Police say two masked men with guns entered a Motel 6 on Aug. 21.

One man jumped over the counter and was fatally shot by a security guard while the other man fled.

Police say Ariz. woman chased husband, caused deadly crash

SIERRA VISTA — Police say an Arizona woman faces manslaught­er charges for chasing down her husband in her SUV, causing him to crash his HarleyDavi­dson into a light post.

Police say 37-year-old Jennie Jones-Hurdlow is responsibl­e for the death of her husband, 51-year-old Brian Hurdlow, following a fight that began at the couple’s home southeast of Tucson.

Witnesses told police in Sierra Vista they saw Jones-Hurdlow drive aggressive­ly and erraticall­y while trying to block her husband from leaving a store on Sunday. Hurdlow managed to leave on his motorcycle but his wife chased him at high speeds.

Police say he was driving over 65 mph when he collided with a light post.

Jones-Hurdlow was arrested on Monday and faces one count of manslaught­er. It’s unclear whether she has an attorney.

Ex-sheriff’s deputy pleads guilty to theft, drug charges

PHOENIX — Court officials say a former Maricopa County sheriff’s deputy has pleaded guilty to theft and drug parapherna­lia charges.

The pleas entered Tuesday in Superior Court follow Scott Michael Walters’ arrest in 2015 as a result of an investigat­ion into multiple robberies and attempted robberies in the Phoenix area.

At the time of his arrest, he denied any involvemen­t in crimes but said he was a heroin addict.

Police searched his home and reported finding boots and glasses believed to have been used in the robberies plus narcotic drugs, drug parapherna­lia and a ledger documentin­g the sale of drugs.
