Voting is underway once again in the 19th annual Yuma’s Best contest.

Sponsored by the Yuma Sun, the poll allows Yumans to vote for their favorite everything. There are a wide variety of categories that people can vote on, from best taco to best dermatologist, and everything in between.

There are seven categories – Business Services, Entertainment, Food and Drink, Goods and Services, Health Services, Quality of Life and Recreation – and each category contains a plethora of options. Entertainment contains options such as “Best Community Event or Festival,” “Best Place to Karaoke,” “Best Place to Show Off Your Dance Moves” and “Best School Music Group.”

Quality of Life offers options such as “Best Park,” “Best RV Park” and “Best Local Place to Cool Off, “while Recreation offers readers a chance to vote on the best camp locations, four-wheeling spots, golf courses and fishing holes, to name a few.

Business Services includes “Best Advertising/Public Relations Firm” and “Business Lunch,” while Food and Drink puts the spotlight on all things edible, including “Best Breakfast,” “Best Barbecue,” and “Best Breakfast Burrito.”

Health Services focuses on medical care in Yuma, such as dental offices, chiropractors, pediatrics and podiatrists, while under Goods and Services, readers can cast their vote the best day spa, day care, florist, gift shop and more.

This is our 19th year of doing this contest, and every year, we hear from readers that they love reading the results.

And they put the list to use. If they have a hankering for a hamburger and want to try something new, they check out this list to see who has the best in town.

This annual contest is one of our favorite projects. We love to see what our readers are most excited about, and how much they appreciate their local businesses.

However, the clock is ticking. The ballots that appeared in the print edition must be received at the Yuma Sun offices by Dec. 27. Online votes must be cast by Dec. 30, and the results will appear in the Yuma Sun on Feb. 10.
