First Take

I don’t ever recall writing a letter to Santa Claus.

Strange, don’t you think, since I still believe in him?

Anyway, with Christmas 2016 almost here, I was thinking about the whole letter writing thing and only remember marking stuff in the “Sears Wish Book.” I mean, my brother and I wore that book out we looked at it so often.

What I definitely remember, however, is getting gifts from Santa that I know for a fact I never asked for, like socks, sweaters, a belt, pajamas, etc.

Of course, one gift I didn’t ask for which I really enjoyed, was a Polaroid Land Camera, Model 103.

Looking back, I believe that was my very first camera. And it was so cool! The only drawback was the fact that you could only get eight or 10 photos from a “pack” of film.

Still, that camera piqued my interest in photography, and looking at where I am now and what I get to do on a daily basis, I have to say, “Thank you, Santa!”
