The driver of a Jeep Laredo was uninjured following a single-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon in which her vehicle rolled over onto its roof after going down into a culvert, according to an official with the Somerton/Cocopah Fire Department.

Chief Paul De Anda, in a news release, wrote that at approximately 12:58 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to Avenue G between County 14th and 15th Streets for a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a rollover.

De Anda wrote that when firefighters arrived on scene they found a white Jeep which had rolled over onto its roof and the female driver, who was the only occupant, walking around beside the vehicle.

According to De Anda, a bystander stated that the vehicle appeared to have veered on and off of the road while travelling southbound on Avenue G, eventually causing the driver to lose control and swerve in gravel.

The driver, who was able to get out of the Jeep through a rear passenger window, told firefighters that she had been wearing her seat belt and had not been injured.

De Anda wrote that the driver was checked out on scene by paramedics and refused treatment and transportation to Yuma Regional Medical Center.

“The driver did not suffer any injuries of note and stated she was just shaken up due to the rollover,” De Anda wrote.
