Fire House Facts
For the week of Feb. 26 through March 4, the Yuma Fire Department responded to 290 emergency calls, including:
• 9 general fire response
Including: 2 house fires (within 2 hours of each other), and various alarms.
• 30 motor vehicle crashes
Including: 3 involving pedestrians, 1 involving 3 vehicles, 1 head-on crash, 1 involving a tree, 2 involving a wall, 1 involving a semi-truck with a vehicle trapped underneath, and 1 involving a building.
• 228 other medical emergencies (serious to minor)
Including: 26 difficulty breathing, 31 chest pain, 41 falls, 12 unconscious people, 8 seizure cases, 3 possible stroke cases, 4 intoxicated persons, 6 people under the influence of drugs, 5 drug overdoses, 10 people with psychiatric problems, 1 dehydration, 3 medical alarms, 1 child locked in a vehicle, 4 allergic reactions, 2 choking, 12 altered or decreased level of consciousness, 4 diabetic emergencies, 6 man down calls, 1 uncontrolled bleeding, 2 bad headaches, 2 poisoning (1 alcohol and 1 food), 1 assault, 4 back pain, 8 abdominal pain, 2 pregnancy related, 1 deceased person, 1 sports related injury, 1 foot run over by a forklift, 1 person trapped in a garbage truck, and other illnesses and injuries.

Including: 1 bee swarm, 1 wasp nest, 1 power pole sparking, 1 vehicle fire, 2 debris fire in yard, 2 alley fires, 1 trash can fire, 1 assisting YFD with a biohazard clean-up at a traffic crash, and various alarms.
