Yuma Sun

Pen-pricks

• The White House stood by President Trump’s claim that he’d been surveilled by the CIA before the November election. It’s so easy to do. This morning I accidentally punched the Defrost button on my microwave and I was able to watch Kellyanne Conway eating breakfast in her kitchen in D.C.

• White House counselor Kellyanne Conway made news by suggesting President Obama could have spied on Trump’s campaign office through a microwave oven. You heard it. That’s why today, the Trump administration’s investigators brought in six frozen burritos and Sara Lee for questioning.

• The White House cited huge jobs gains and a stock market rally in the first month of Trump’s presidency. Even the losers have reasons for optimism. Radio Shack filed for bankruptcy a second time, and business analysts say if Radio Shack goes bankrupt one more time, it can run for president.

Thank you, Laura Beaupre, for your letter to the editor about how Yuma looks so unloved because of the garbage, etc.

In the past I have written a few letters to the editor on this very subject.

I have found shortly after our letters hit the newspaper, the areas we were complaining about do get a so-so clean-up, which is better than no clean up at all.

I have asked the same questions over and over again, why does it take letters to the editor about the garbage around our city before it is cleaned up?

Why does Yuma not use non-violent criminals to clean these areas? I know the town I’m from (Vancouver, Washington) mandates people who have traffic fines and can’t pay to spend time on a work crew cleaning our city /county/ roads/parks etc. Also if someone who is locked up for a petty crime, they are sent out on work crew and work 8 hours a day in exchange for time off their sentences. It’s a win-win situation, our town/parks etc. look great and it doesn’t cost us taxpayers much at all.

Another question I have asked over and over again is why does Yuma not mandate all loads headed to the landfill, etc., be tarped? Charge an extra $50 fee at the landfill if someone arrives at the landfill untarped.

Many times I have followed trucks or trailers loaded with yard debris and or garbage, with stuff flying out all over the road. The drivers just keep driving down the

Well, well the CBO finally scored Trump and the Republicans new health care legislation the “American Health Care Act” or Trumpcare which is designed to replace Obamacare. Trump touted the new GOP Obamacare replacement legislation as “wonderful.” However, that’s not what the CBO said of the American Healthcare Act (AHCA). They said that up to 24 million people would lose health insurance by 2026. OK, Republicans and Mr. Trump, where do you apply the word “wonderful” to this horrid piece of legislation? It’s anything but.
