Road Report
16th Street and 4th Avenue
Work to widen and improve the 16th Street and 4th Avenue intersection is underway. One lane of through traffic will remain open in each direction. Right turn restrictions remain in place for large trucks and semitrailers. Access the Yuma Mesa Shopping Center via northbound 4th Avenue or eastbound 16th Street; left turns in and out of the center will be prohibited from this point forward.
The City asks all motorists to plan ahead and to obey the reduced speed limit. Those using residential streets as detour routes are asked to respect the 25 mph speed limit and be attentive for children and pets. While business access will be maintained at all times, those seeking through traffic routes may wish to avoid the construction zone, using roads such as 24th St., 8th St., or 32nd St. for east-west through traffic, and Arizona Ave., Ave. A, Pacific Ave., or Ave. B for northsouth through traffic.
On Monday, Apr. 24, and Tuesday, Apr. 25, the 16th Street and 4th Avenue intersection will be restricted to right turns only to accommodate laying the top layer of pavement throughout the intersection. Those not traveling to a destination in the immediate area are encouraged to plan and use alternate route and stay clear of the construction zone. Those utilizing neighborhood side streets as a temporary detour are asked to please respect the driving conditions on residential streets. Once this work is complete, the intersection will be reopened to at least one lane of through traffic in each direction on Wednesday and Thursday of the same week. Access to the Yuma Mesa Shopping Center during this paving operation will remain available via northbound 4th Avenue only; left turns in and out of the center will be prohibited during the pavement operations.
