For the week of April 9-15, the Yuma Fire Department responded to 272 emergency calls, including:
• 9 general fire response
Including: 1 fire in a garage started by sparks from a welder, 1 illegal trash burning, 1 fire in a house started by a malfunctioning Bluetooth speaker, 1 RV fire, and various alarms.
• 1 mutual aid
Including: Called to assist with a house fire in Winterhaven.
• 17 motor vehicle crashes
Including: 1 involving a pedestrian, and 1 involving 4 vehicles.
• 217 other medical emergencies (serious to minor)
Including: 13 difficulty breathing, 14 chest pain, 25 falls, 12 unconscious people, 7 seizure cases, 1 possible stroke case, 2 intoxicated persons, 3 for a person under the influence of drugs, 21 people with psychiatric problems, 2 heat illness, 6 medical alarms, 4 allergic reactions, 1 choking (1-year-old on candy), 12 altered or decreased level of consciousness, 2 fevers, 2 broken bones, 5 diabetic emergencies, 1 cat bite, 4 man down calls, 2 uncontrolled bleeding, 1 gunshot wound, 4 assaults, 9 back pain, 13 abdominal pain, 2 pregnancy related, 1 drug withdrawal, 1 laceration, and other illnesses and injuries.

Including: 1 snake removal, 1 customer trapped in a business bathroom, 2 power lines down, 3 small brush fires (1 known to be intentionally set), 2 dumpster fires, 1 trash can fire, 1 fire set in a business bathroom, 1 illegal trash fire, 1 blown power transformer, 1 green waste fire in the county, and various alarms.
