San Luis subdivision gets 1st approval for rezoning
SAN LUIS, Ariz. — Riedel Construction has received first approval of its application for a rezoning for Santa Cecilia, a new residential subdivision in San Luis.
The city Planning and Zoning Commission recently gave unanimous approval to the San Luis developer’s request to rezone nearly 35 acres for what is planned as a 163-lot subdivision on the northeast corner of County 24th Street and Avenue F. As part of the rezoning, a portion of the site would be set aside for a gas station and 10 other small businesses.
The rezoning request now goes to the San Luis City Council, which could act on it as soon as this month.
“This is a subdivision that is needed because of the demand for the housing in San Luis and because of how fast subdivisions are being occupied,” said Nieves Riedel, owner of the Riedel Construction.
If zoning change is approved, site development could begin as soon as July.
The development represents a more than $4 million investment, and would be the 10th residential development done by Riedel in San Luis.
