One reporter leaves, one comes home

Sun team says farewell to Matt Harding as Mara Knaub returns

- Roxanne Molenar Editor’s Notebook

Today is one of those “Sad News/Good News” type of days at the Yuma Sun. First, the sad news. Over the last year, Matt Harding has covered city of Yuma government as well as business news, taking over the helm of the Comings and Goings column, too.

The beats aren’t easy ones to cover, as both can involve complex issues, but Harding has done a terrific job, digging in and working hard to cover the beats.

He started his time here by covering Yuma County government, and in between, he’s picked up just about every type of story out there.

Unfortunately, he’s leaving Yuma, moving on to the next adventure. This week’s Comings and Goings column will be his last, and in it, he mentions a few of his favorite stories to cover here. He’s been a versatile reporter, and a pleasure to work with.

However, Comings and Goings won’t be idle for long.

Many readers may remember reporter Mara Knaub, who worked here from 2010-2014. At the time, she covered a variety of subjects — county government, features stories, health news and more.

Now for the good news: Knaub has moved back to Yuma, and will be starting at the Yuma Sun once again on Monday.

Her new beats? City of Yuma government, business and Comings and Goings.

It’s always hard to say farewell to a member of our team, because they become a part of our newsroom family. But this time, it’s a new twist on the situation, because we get to welcome one home at the same time.

Please join me in welcoming Knaub back to the Sun, and wishing Harding the best of luck as he sets off on his new journey!

Readers, if you have any business tips, whether it’s a business coming or one that’s going, please let Knaub know. She can be reached at 928-539-6853. Or send her an email at mknaub@yumasun.com.

And as always, thanks for reading!
