From May 21-27, the Yuma Fire Department responded to 290 emergency calls, including: • 10 general fire response Including: 1 fire in an RV air conditioning unit, 1 small brush fire in a yard, 1 small brush fire in an alley, 1 nursing home evacuated due to smoke from an air conditioning unit, 1 smoke from a washer unit in a laundry, and various alarms. • 2 mutual aid Including: Called to assist with a brush fire at Adair Range, and called to assist with a brush fire near the Andrade Port of Entry. • 22 motor vehicle crashes Including: 2 involving pedestrians, 2 involving walls, 1 involving a motorcycle, and 2 involving rollovers.
• 241 other medical emergencies (serious to minor)
Including: 22 difficulty breathing, 18 chest pain, 30 falls, 11 unconscious people, 9 seizure cases, 8 possible stroke cases, 4 intoxicated persons, 2 drug overdoses, 17 people with psychiatric problems, 4 heat illness/dehydration, 7 medical alarms, 2 allergic reactions, 15 altered or decreased level of consciousness, 1 fever, 1 broken foot from jumping off Ocean to Ocean Bridge into the river, 4 diabetic emergencies, 2 dog bites, 7 man down calls, 1 uncontrolled bleeding, 5 bad headaches, 1 poisoning (14 month-old drank carpet cleaner), 7 assaults, 11 abdominal pain, 1 pregnancy related, 2 deceased persons, 2 lacerations (including badly cut thumb on a power saw), 1 sports related injury, 1 sick person on river float-down, 1 5-year-old with “glow liquid” in eyes, and other illnesses and injuries.
