Sprouts Farmers Market: Anticipated store opens this week
One of the most anticipated store openings will be held this Wednesday. It seems everyone is talking about it! Sprouts Farmers Market, which offers “fresh, natural and organic foods,” is opening its first location in Yuma on Wednesday.
The 30,000-square-foot store is located at 1590 S. 4th Ave., at the intersection with 16th Street, and will open its doors at 7 a.m. that day. The store will also hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening. The public is invited to join the festivities and tour the store.
Sprouts will also have grand opening day giveaways for the first 200 customers, and muffin and coffee samples will be served to everyone in line before the doors open. Every customer will receive one free reusable bag with purchase. The giveaways will continue on Saturday, July 29, and Sunday, July 30.
The new store will feature Sprouts’ new expanded deli where shoppers can find prepared proteins and sides, a salad bar, sushi made in-house and a juice bar to provide convenient, healthy options for those on the go.
Something I really like is — as part of Sprouts’ commitment to “zero waste” — the new Yuma Sprouts will donate unsold and edible groceries to Yuma Community Food Bank through the grocer’s Food Rescue program. Food that is not fit for donation is provided to local cattle farms and composting facilities. Pretty cool! *** Black Bear Diner will be opening at the end of this month in the former Mimi’s Cafe at the northwest corner of Pacific Avenue and 16th Street. I will be getting a sneak peek of the comfort food restaurant on Tuesday and will share a photo or two next week. *** I recently had lunch at the Big Curve Shopping Center and spotted a furniture store I had never noticed before. I went in and discovered Furniture Land, 320 W. 32nd St., Suite B, opened in May.
