Police to give update on false alarm program
City council to hold meetings Tuesday, Wednesday
Yuma Police Capt. Rod Hamilton will give an update of the False Alarm Program during the city council’s work session to be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the City Hall Council Chambers, 1 City Plaza.
The council will also discuss and ask questions about items on the agenda for Wednesday’s regular meeting, set to begin at 5:30 p.m., also in the chambers.
Among the agenda items is an agreement that would provide $232,000 to the Greater Yuma Economic Development Corporation for fiscal year 2017-28. The agency is tasked with locating and attracting industry to the region.
The agenda also includes a resolution supporting the application of a Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grant to complete the development of a multi-modal transportation center in downtown Yuma at the historic Hotel Del Sol.
In addition, the council will consider adoption of an ordinance calling for the rezoning of two parcels totaling 12.1 acres from the Agriculture District to the Light Industrial District. The property is located at 6651 and 6705 E. Gila Ridge Road.
In other action, staff will introduce an ordinance authorizing the acquisition of three 50-square-foot parcels of right-of-way “by gift, exchange, purchase, easement or eminent domain for improvements to the public roadway, utility infrastructure and other related public purposes” located at the intersections of 14th Street and 3rd Avenue and 13th Street and 3rd Avenue.
Two presentations are also scheduled to take place Wednesday: recognition of awards for the Wellness Council of Arizona and Public Service Announcements.
