Students chefs at AWC offer series of dinners
Explore cuisine from Brazil, Armenia and other countries this fall from the campus of Arizona Western College.
In a series of seven formal dinners being offered throughout the semester, student chefs will present diners with tastes from Brazil, Armenia and other countries through courses taken in AWC’s Culinary Arts Program, said Sheranne Dampier, professor of culinary arts, in a news release.
But you’d better hurry and secure your seats, because the tickets for the dinners sell out quickly, according to previous stories in the Yuma Sun.
The meals, prepared by student chefs who also create the menus, include an appetizer, soup or salad, a main dish with sides and dessert. Funds raised from ticket sales benefit the students through scholarships and program necessities, Dampier said. Grilled salmon is on the menu for the first dinner, which is Thursday, Oct. 5. A dinner will follow every two weeks on Thursdays, each with a new menu. Dinners start at 6 and last until 8 and will be held in the Learning Resources Building on the Yuma campus. The final meal will be served in the Frances Morris boardroom at the Schoening Conference Center.
Tickets may be purchased individually or in a package. Tickets range from $20 to $30 per person, per meal (depending on the menu), or seven tickets for all dinners for $160.
Tickets may be purchased in advance through the AWC Business Office on the main campus. For payment by phone, please call (928) 317-7666.
