YPD: Armed robbery suspect in custody

A suspect was taken into custody following an armed robbery at Burlington Coat Factory in which the suspect reportedly fled the scene, police said.

According to a news release from the Yuma Police Department, officers responded to the armed robbery at the clothing store, 3020 S. 4th Ave., at approximat­ely 3 p.m.

Police said the suspect reportedly fled the scene in a white Pontiac Bonneville, last seen heading toward 4th Avenue.

The suspect vehicle was registered to an address in Winterhave­n, Calif. and the Quechan Police Department were notified, police said. After a YPD officer spotted the suspect vehicle crossing the Ocean-toOcean Bridge into California, YPD dispatch advised Quechan PD and the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office that the vehicle was in California, according to the release.

The suspect vehicle was located by law enforcemen­t and crossed back over the Ocean-to-Ocean Bridge into Yuma.

The suspect reportedly fled on foot following a collision in which the suspect vehicle crashed into another vehicle in the 100 block of South Main Street. The suspect was located and taken into custody.

YPD has identified the suspect as 23-year-old Kiko Luna. Police said Luna will be booked on multiple charges.

As of press time, YPD spokespers­on Sgt. Lori Franklin said she did not believe any injuries were reported.
