STEDY board will meet Tuesday
The Southwest Technical Educational District of Yuma will meet Tuesday evening at the Goodwill Career Center.
The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. at 3097 S. 8th Ave., the center’s site at what was once the Southgate mall complex.
The board for the Joint Technical Education District of Yuma County, which includes the Yuma Union and Antelope Union high school districts, will consider “facilities of potential programs” in an executive session, but any decision will be made in open session.
The board will also have a reading of several policies including on discipline, suspension, and dismissal of professional staff members; parental involvement in education. The governing board will have a second reading of several policies that have specific language changes including the use of technology resources, the regulation and the posting of that policy; board member qualifications; and textbook / supplementary materials selection and adoption. The board may also approve the second reading of a JTED-specific policy, “Organization of Instruction.”
Curriculum Specialist Julie Rodriguez will give a presentation on collaboration tools, and the board will be updated on quotes for a shade structure at Antelope Union. Superintendent Kevin Imes will update the board on the A-F criteria for JTEDS and an overview of the upcoming Coding Open House on Oct. 19. A financial overview of the district’s finances will also be given.
The district’s Annual Financial Report for Fiscal Year 2017 may also be approved. The board could also discuss and give action to the Workforce Development Council; discuss and possibly approve a Classroom Site Fund (Prop 301 for STEDY Teachers) Plan for FY20172018, as presented.
The board may also consider action related to proposed changes in the Arizona School Boards Association by-laws; approve the continuation of the contract with Independent Auditing Firm Cristine C. Swan (Year 2 of 5), to perform the District’s financial audits subject to the Single Audit Act and the Uniformed System of Financial Records (USFR) for Arizona School Districts for Fiscal Year 2017.
The board may also discuss and approve for its members to attend the ASBA/ASA 60th Annual Conference Dec. 13 - 15 at the Arizona Biltmore; the board may also designate a person to sign off on the board’s and superintendent’s Travel, leave affidavits, as presented by the administration
