Thoughts on riding bikes in Yuma

-

In reference to Rebecca Hamm’s letter dated 9-29-17. In the morning on 24th Street at that time it is dark. The bike lane starts at the curb, has about 18 inches of cement, with the blacktop for the rest of the width. There is about a 2-inch drop between the cement and the blacktop. Also there is a lot of trash in the bike lane. As for riding two abreast, that is for the protection of the bike riders, if you ride single file, cars will pass too close and run you off the road. The law says you can ride two abreast and also says to share the road. It’s the law. At that time of the morning mostly professionals (doctors, dentists, lawyers, etc.) are riding their bikes, before going to work. DARRELL KEATH Yuma
