For the seventh year the Texas Roadhouse in Yuma will be joining other restaurants around the country in giving a complimentary meal to veterans and active duty members of the U.S. military this year on Veterans Day.

As such, any eligible customer who comes into the Texas Roadhouse, located at 594 E. 16th St., on Saturday, Nov. 11, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. will get a free lunch.

While the Texas Roadhouse in Yuma will be serving its lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the hours may be different at other locations, so you should consider calling the exact location you plan on visiting ahead of time.

All veterans — including all active, retired or former U.S. military — can choose one of 10 entrees, including a 6-ounce sirloin and two made-from-scratch sides plus a choice of any Coca-Cola product, sweet tea/ice tea or coffee during lunch.

Family members, friends and other guests are welcome to enjoy a meal with their service member, but they’ll be charged for their meal.

Providing proof of military service is a requirement for almost all restaurants that are giving out free meals on Veterans Day, including Texas Roadhouse.

In order to receive their free meal, eligible customers need to show authentic proof of military service, which can be done by bringing a military ID card, Veterans Affairs card or discharge papers.

The free meal is only available on Veterans Day, so no vouchers will be given for use on another day. The meal is only for the entrees that are listed, and is for dine-in only. The meal also does not include beer or alcohol.

Walgreens is also honoring veterans and military personnel on Veterans Day by offering a 20 percent discount.

On Saturday customers with a Walgreens Balance® Rewards card and valid military ID or proof of service will receive 20 percent off regular price eligible store items at any Walgreens or Duane Reade drugstore nationwide.

“Serving those who served our country is an honor for all of us at Walgreens and Duane Reade,” said Richard Ashworth, president of operations. “Veterans Day is an opportunity to pay a small symbolic tribute in our stores

to the sacrifices made in defense of our country by those in uniform and their families.”
