March 5, 1942 - March 5, 2017 Miriam Thomas passed away on her birthday March 5, 2017 in her home in Yuma after long-time battle with COPD. Miriam was devoted wife to Rex Thomas working tirelessly by his side for 44 years. Together they ran the Rocking T-Bar ranch, in Whitmore, CA, were active in the Whitmore Volunteer Fire Department, California Cattlemen’s Assoc, and their community. Together they raised Miriam’s three children, Tom, Dianna and Randy to value faith in God, hard work and responsibility and to be a positive force in the community when possible. Miriam never complained about hard work, long days, trials or troubles. Miriam was a loving mom, a devoted wife, an awesome grandmother to her 6 grandchildren (Michelle, David, Amanda, Charity, Joshua and Jacob) as well as a caring great grandmother--all of whom she loved immensely. She was always a pleasant, fun, and inspirational neighbor to all who knew her. Miriam had strong faith in God and persevered through all difficulties life presented her. She loved and cared for her immediate family as well as her sisters, brother, grandmother, step-children, nieces and nephew John and favorite adoptive nieces (Janis and Sharon), her friends and neighbors and the community at large, wherever she resided. She aided her daughter, Dianna when she needed assistance as a single mom; she helped her son, Tom when paralyzed in a car accident; she was at her son, Randy’s side when he struggled and eventually lost his battle with cancer. She was a positive influence in her nephew, John’s early years and provided emotional support to her sister, Lorelei with the struggles of raising 7 kids as a single mom. Always a lovely spirit, Miriam loved the company of her grandchildren, great grand-children and friends and cherished time with them. After her son’s passing and her husband Rex’s passing, Miriam tried to be in constant contact with her family and friends. In words and deeds, she taught us all from an early age to trust in God, work hard and selflessly and to forgive others. Miriam is home now in the hands of our Lord and in the company of her lost son, daughter, husband, granddaughter, other family and her long-passed friends. She was a great mom, great wife, great grandmother, great sister, great aunt, great friend and she was loved and will be missed more than words can say. A celebration of life lunch in at 1pm will be held at Mariam's home Saturday November 25, 2017, for more information please contact Tom at (530)227-7526
