Police: Mother arrested in shooting death of 2-year-old son

BUCKEYE — Police in Buckeye say a woman has been arrested in the shooting death of her 2-year-old son.

They say 26-year-old Alyssa Pettibone was booked into a Phoenix jail Monday on suspicion of second-degree murder.

Police received a call about a shooting at a home last Friday afternoon. Responding officers found a 2-year-old boy with a gunshot wound and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Phoenix homicide victim had been reported as missing person

PHOENIX — Police say a woman believed to a Phoenix homicide victim had been reported as a missing person in Glendale.

They say 43-year-old Maria Villanueva was pronounced dead at a residence last Saturday morning.

Phoenix police officers were called in reference to a check welfare and found a woman with obvious physical trauma.

Phoenix police say their investigation into Villanueva’s death is ongoing.

Man arrested in hit-and-run death of pedestrian in Glendale

GLENDALE — A man has been arrested in the hit-and-run death of a pedestrian in Glendale who was struck by a truck when he stepped into the roadway.

Glendale police say 49-year-old Jesus Bastidas was arrested in Friday night’s death of 65-year-old Ndingi Valens.

Authorities say a witness who saw the collision was able to pull in front of the truck to get it to stop.

Police say Bastidas wasn’t found to be impaired at the time.
