Yuma woman injured in Dec. shooting dies
Incident happened at Twin Palms complex
A 23-year-old woman who was critically injured in a shooting that happened last month near an apartment complex has died, according to the Yuma Police Department.
Yuma police were notified on Wednesday that the woman, now identified as Keishawna Precious Rattler had died as a result of her gunshot wound. Next of kin has been notified.
On Wednesday, Dec. 20, at approximately 5:06 a.m., officers responded to the 900 block of S. 1st Avenue in reference to shots fired.
When officers arrived on scene, they found a 23-yearold woman with a gunshot wound lying on the ground near the Twin Palms apartment complex.
“The shooting happened somewhere inside the apartment complex,” Sgt. Lori Franklin said at the time.
The woman was unresponsive, so an officer began administering CPR and continued until paramedics arrived.
She was rushed to Yuma Regional Medical Center, where she was listed in serious condition.
Yuma police are investigating the incident, but there is currently no suspect information at this time.
