According to the sheriff’s office, at approximately 12:24 p.m. on Friday, deputies received a report of a missing person from the 3200 block of W. Phoenix Avenue.

Upon arrival to the location, deputies met with the reporting party who stated the missing person, identified as 53-year-old Belem Mata, of Yuma, had left her residence at approximately 4 p.m. on Thursday to visit family in Mexico.

However, family members in Mexico said she never made it to her destination.

She is described as a Hispanic female, 5 feet 5 inches tall, approximately 210 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans.

Continuous efforts to locate Mata by the sheriff’s office have been unsuccessful.
