- BY JAMES GILBERT

San Luis police officers are investigating a shooting that happened last week and sent one man to the hospital, where he was treated for a non life-threatening injury.

According to information provided by the San Luis Police Department, on Thursday officers responded to the intersection of Cesar Chavez Street and C Street for a report of shots fired.

When officers arrived on scene they spoke with several witnesses who stated that a verbal argument took place, and that a male suspect wearing a dark hooded sweater shot at the victim four times with a handgun.

The witnesses also told officers that the suspect who had fired the shots fled the scene as a passenger in an unknown dark in color sedan.

The male victim, who was struck by one of the bullets on his leg, was transported by a San Luis Fire Department ambulance to Yuma Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and later released.

The San Luis Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in obtaining any additional information regarding this incident, which may lead to the identification and apprehension of possible suspect(s).

Anyone with additional information is urged to call San Luis Police Department Detective Lara at 928341-2420.
