Cibola girls lose region championsh­ip

The Cibola girls basketball team lost the 6A Southern region championsh­ip game Tuesday at Tucson High, 50-35. Arlyssa Underwood had 11 points and eight rebounds for the Raiders (14-4 AIA, 4-1 6A Southern), who lost their second straight game. Cibola entered Tuesday’s game at No. 16 in the 6A rankings. Should the Raiders finish in the top 16, they will host a game in Thursday’s 6A play-in round. If they fall to 17 or lower, they will play on the road.

The Warriors appear set to make their first trip to the postseason since 2007 after beating No. 10 Anthem Prep in the regularsea­son finale Tuesday.

After trailing in the first quarter, San Pasqual (12-4) took the lead and held on from there. Mary Anador had a team-best 15 points, Paris Montague had 14 and Kaija Koteen added 13. The Warriors still have the 1A West conference tournament, and they can automatica­lly qualify for the 1A State Tournament if they finish in the top two.

Rincon 70, Kofa 28

Lalani Bullbear had 12 points and three rebounds, and Keiley Sharp had seven points and seven rebounds for the Kings in the blowout loss Tuesday.

Antelope 53, Mohave Accelerate­d 37

Elliana Nieto led the Rams with 12 points, seven rebounds and five steals in their win Tuesday. Wendy Castro chipped in 11 points, six boards and three steals.
