Kim Walker carried Bob Walker to a first-place finish in the Yuma Golf and Country Club Couples gross score championship last week, with a gross bestball one 1-under 143. Second place in the gross division went to Gail and Ken Duffield, with Dorothy and Len Ammerlaan winning third place in the gross flight. In the net division, Sheila and Dave Rindal were the winners with a best-ball score of 122 with Tracy and Bruno Catroppa taking second place. The third-place net winners were Debi and Ron Mohr.
At the Fortuna Del Oro Golf Course last Friday morning, the mixed league best-ball winners were Barry Moore, Brenda Morden, Brent Campbell and Bill Johnson. Gerry Morrow, Kevin Burnside, Clara Trapnell and Bob Bennett took second place. The third-place finishers were Bob Duffy, Denis Dore, Sandy Dore and Jan Campbell.
On Friday at the Las Barrancas Golf Course, the men’s copper, silver and gold gross winners were Frank Russell, George Christopher and David Richelderfer. The net winners were Frank Russell, George Christopher and Lee Estes.
Judy and Tony Kossey teamed with Mona and Larry Kossey for a gross score of 60 to win first place in “Willies Couples” play at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course on Sunday afternoon. First place in the net division went to the team of Eileen and Arthur Grimley and Darla Peterson and Sandy Lee with a score of 54.
On Jan. 29 at the Foothills Par 3 Golf Course, the men’s league gross winners were Dale Gleave, Daivid Richelderfer and Dave Fritz. The net winners were Dale Gleave, Rob Grouse and Harold Hartman. The team winners were Bob Adams, Ron Hockins, Bob McCallister and Butch Stone.
Gerald Larrabee teamed with Bob Blair, Bill Griffith and Jerry Olson for 81 team pro power points to win first place in the weekly Can/Am play at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course on Jan. 29, with Stephen Parrish, Doug Sharkey, Hugh Strain and Warren Ohland taking second place one point back. The KP winners were Glen Rost and Tony Kossey. The deuce-pot winners were Bill Slade, Norman Watson, Tom Mozley, Dennis Lund and Bert Scott.
At the Fortuna Del Oro Golf Course on Jan. 30, the men’s league winners were John McArthur, Harry Viznei, Ron Siring and Jerome Brekke. John Myers, Dave Dickey and Carl Lang took second place. The thirdplace finishers were Rick Craig, Ross Barton, Gordon Priest and Dennis Richter.
Joan Webb and Terri Paden were tied for first place in the first flight of the Monday Ladies “Three Blind Mice” play at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course. Iris Pallas was the secondflight winner, with Sandra Lee and Nancy Holmes tied for second place. In the third flight, Betty Szmyrko, Darla Peterson and Eunice Hoffman were tied for first place. Sally Manley won the fourth flight, and Jo-Ann Givens was the second-place finisher in the fourth flight.

The winners of the Desert Hills Ladies putting competition Jan. 30 were Donna Lalonde, Kathy Lauer, Heather Comeau Karen Gallagher, Wendy Cyrenne, Joan Fallis, Kris Pilgrim and Mary Scheuler. After two rounds of the medallion play, the grossscore leaders were Donna Lalonde, Lola Stone and Diane Comeau. The netscore leaders were Bette McGrath, Diane Comeau and Lola Stone. The KP winners were Trish Steffey, Jessie Raley, Kathy Lauer and Donna Lalonde.
On Jan. 30 at the Las Barrancas Golf Course, the men’s silver gross winners were Dave Frirz, Steve Gartner and Keith Planadin. The net winners were Doug Anderson, Dave Fritz and Mark Parks. The team winners were Bryan Boechler, Cliff Dunsdon, Frank Russell and Phil Smith.
Bob Berndt teamed with John Coffey, Jack Schenck and Carol Johnson for a scrambling 2-under 70 to tie the team of Dale Hoch, Ron Hardin and Mel Wiedrick for first place in the Moose Lodge #1627 weekly play at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course on Jan. 30.
On Jan. 31 at the Cocopah Bend Golf Course, the ladies club gross ace of the month winner was Marion Meola with a score of 86, and the net winner was Joyce Beath with a score of 62.

Pam Herring was the winner in the Mesa Del Sol “Pinky’s Pick” mixed league play on Wednesday, with Wayne Webb and Al Johnson tied for second place. The remaining four winners were Bob Blair, Marilyn Cotter, Mike Mikkola and Sandra Blair. The skin winners were Marilyn Cotter, Wayne Webb, Stephen Parrish, Mike Mikkola and Pam Herring.
At the Fortuna Del Oro Golf Course on Jan. 31, the couples league winners were Brent Black, Sally Ganter, Larry Smith and Elaine Farris. Brent Campbell, Jan Campbell, Pete Barber and Darlene Barber took second place. The third-place finishers were Dave Gillies, Lyn Gillies, Bob Frost and Deb Frost.
Phyllis Duffy made a hole-in-one on the fourth hole, a 157-yard par 3 during the couples league play Jan. 31.

At the Fortuna Del Oro Golf Course on Thursday, the ladies league winners were Becky Fortie, Kim Chesnovar, Fay McEachern and Diana Schechtel. Kim Hery, Heather McKinnon, Shirley Couse and Pat Roberts took second place. The third-place finishers were Cathy McArthur, Judy Zehrung, Linda Essink and Winnie Gellner.
On Thursday at the Foothills Executive Golf Course, the ladies league gross winners were Janine Leniuk, Sandra Haun and Susan Clarke. The net winners were Suzanne Hammons, Alice Macht and Janine Lenuik. The team winners were Bernice Miller, Bev Booth, Marge Fellows and Brenda Willick.
Ruth Koenig and Pam Upayokin were tied with Jo-Anne Lambert and Joan Webb for first place in the gross division of the Mesa Del Sol Thursday’s ladies play. Shannon Mason and Linda Williams were the third-place finishers. In the net division, Sandy Blair and Connie Donner were the winners. Pam Brown and Muriel Scott tied with Judy Kossey and Darla Peterson for second place. The skin winners were Donna Lalonde, Jo-Anne Lambert, Sue Morgenthaler, Shannon Mason, Sandy Blair, Bev Morgan, Muriel Scott, Dona Conzelman, Cindy Apolzer, Ruth Koenig and Donna Lalonde.
The Mesa del Sol Cup match-play champion was Jo-Anne Lambert. Over the past month, Lambert defeated Darla Peterson, Nancy Holmes and Linda Scott to win the championship title. Marilyn Cotter was the overall consolation-bracket winner.
The next Desert Hills MGA monthly tournament will be played Saturday and will be a two-man, bestball format with a “beat the pro” option. Members may contact Bruce Clark at 928580-6436 for entry or additional information.
The annual Men’s Senior City Championship will be played at the Desert Hills Golf Course on Feb. 24-25 with tee times starting at 8 a.m. Saturday and a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Sunday. The $60 entry fee must be paid by Feb. 21, and this field is limited to the first 80 paid entries. Players may contact the pro shop for entry or additional information.
