Cibola’s Cain signs with Division 1 UCA

Thomas Cain is NCAA Division I-bound.

Cibola’s star senior distance runner inked a national letter of intent with the University of Central Arkansas on Friday, becoming just the second local prep athlete for any sport to sign with a Division I program this school year.

For Cain, deciding on Central Arkansas wasn’t as much about wanting to run at the highest collegiate level as it was the fit.

“I just love the program, love the coach, love the school,” said Cain, who visited the Conway, Ark., campus last month. “I even saw myself there if I wasn’t running, which was one of the big things I wanted.”
