Road Report is weekly list of city projects or encroachment permits authorized by the city of Yuma, compiled by the city of Yuma, affecting busy streets.

Araby Road, I-8 to 30th Street — ADOT

Contractors are scheduled to relocate utilities between Interstate 8 and 30th Street as the Arizona Department of Transportation prepares for the second phase of construction of the I-8 and Araby Road Traffic Interchange Improvement project.

The following restrictions will be in place 24 hours a day for seven days through Monday, April 30:

• The southbound right lane on Araby Road in the work zone will be closed in the work zone from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning Monday, April 23, through Monday, April 30.

• An 11-foot-vehicle width restriction will be in place.

Delays are possible, so motorists should consider using alternate routes.

Construction of a new roundabout is set to begin in May 2018. The roundabout, which is scheduled for completion by November, will connect the eastbound I-8 ramps, Araby Road and Gila Ridge Road.

Main Street, Giss through 1st Street

The City will conduct fog seal operations on Main Street on the following days:

• Monday, April 23 — From Giss Parkway to 3rd Street.

• Tuesday, April 24 — From 3rd Street to 2nd Street.

• Wednesday, April 25 — From 2nd Street to end point north of 1st Street.

4th Avenue and 26th Street

Beginning as early as April 19, crews will need to access manholes at various locations near 4th Avenue and 26th Street, requiring a lane closure in the area. Work is to occur only during night hours and weekends. Signs will be placed to alert traffic to the lane shifts and closures so that they can continue with caution. Drivers are asked to please obey all traffic control devices and posted speed limits. The work will finish by May 4.

3rd Avenue, 8th to 11th streets

Crews are nearing completion on the first phase of improvements to 3rd Avenue between 8th and 11th streets. With pavement work taking place, work could shift to phase two, south of 11th Avenue, as soon as this week. While no through traffic will be permitted, please note that access to local businesses in the area will be maintained and motorists may drive on the temporary surface to reach their destinations.

Avenue B, 8th to 16th streets

Coming soon: Starting as early as May 21, crews will be replacing a vintage streel main line requiring a lane closure on Avenue B, from 8th St. to 16th St. Signs will be posted to alert drivers of the upcoming closure as they approach the workzone.

24th Street, Arizona Avenue

Beginning as early as March 21, crews will be working near the intersection of 24th Street and Arizona Avenue for a project totaling no more than 60 days. The work will require a lane closure along 24th Street near its intersection with Arizona Avenue and will call for the speed limit to be reduced to 25 mph in the work zone.

Avenue 10E, 32nd-34th streets

Subdivision and street construction will affect Avenue 10E between 32nd Street and 34th Street. Detour using Payson Avenue. Work is scheduled to complete in late August.

17th Street, Arizona to Riley

Sewer service installation will require a hard closure of 17th Street between Arizona Avenue and Riley Avenue the week of April 23-27. Detour using 18th Street.

24th Street, Avenue B

Crews will be doing overhead utility work near the southwest corner of 24th Street and Avenue B to replace a Spectrum (Time Warner Cable) fiber optic enclosure. Work is to take place between midnight and 6 a.m., and is to be completed by the June 1. Some lane closures may be in place as needed for the project.

I-8 west of 4th Ave. — Caltrans (updated)

Caltrans crews continue to work on the reconstruction of Interstate-8 in Imperial County, west of Yuma. Recently, crews reduced traffic to a single lane on westbound I-8 between Sidewinder Road and about a mile west of Ogilby Road. Both travel directions have been switched to the I-8 eastbound lanes divided by k-rail. In addition, the westbound on- and off-ramps at Ogilby Road (exit 159) are closed to traffic. Signs have been placed to alert motorists to the ramp closures and to alternate routes.

The I-8 Corridor is a major pavement rehabilitation project consisting of five segments that will construct Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement (CRCP) over 48 miles on Interstate 8 in Imperial County. The work will result in a long-lasting superior roadway, capable of withstanding the heaviest traffic loads. Construction began in 2016 on three of the five segments. Work will be completed by 2019.

4th Avenue gateway — ADOT

ADOT is making improvements to the state facility at 4th Avenue and 1st Street. Lane restrictions are in place. The $773,000 improvement project will last approximately seven months. ADOT will add a right-turn lane and a 10-ft. wide, colored-concrete shareduse path from 1st Avenue along the east side of 4th Avenue to the existing Yuma Canal Bridge. The project also includes upgrading and refurnishing existing lighting, installing signage, landscaping and rehabilitating the Yuma Crossing concrete historic land marker.
