During the week of May 13-May 19, The Yuma Fire Department responded to 292 emergency calls for service, including:

• 14 general fire response

Including: A strong natural gas smell, 2 oven fires, and various alarms.

• 21 motor vehicle crashes

Including: 1 involving 4 vehicles, 1 involving a motorcycle, 1 involving a bicycle, 1 involving a pedestrian, 1 involving a rollover, and 1 involving semi-truck (fatality).

• 240 other medical emergencie­s (serious to minor)

Including: 17 for difficulty breathing, 23 for chest pain, 28 for falls, 11 for unconsciou­s people, 17 seizure cases, 3 possible stroke cases, 5 for intoxicate­d persons, 3 for people under the influence of drugs, 4 for drug overdoses, 14 for people with psychiatri­c problems, 5 for dehydratio­n or heat illness, 6 for medical alarms, 1 for a child locked in a vehicle, 23 for altered or decreased level of consciousn­ess, 4 for fevers, 3 for diabetic emergencie­s, 1 for a snake bite, 3 for man down calls, 2 for uncontroll­ed bleeding, 4 for bad headaches, 2 for assaults, 5 for back pain, 12 for abdominal pain, 4 pregnancy related, 1 for a deceased person, 1 for an infant who swallowed a piece of glass, 1 for a person injured when they were dragged by their vehicle, 1 for a person who badly burned their feet on the sidewalk, and other illnesses and injuries.
