Marilyn Cotter posted +11 quota points to win first place in the Mesa Del Sol quota points mixed play on May 14. Hank Browning posted +8 points to take second place, Sam Samples was third with +7 points and Sandy Blair was fourth with +6 points. The skin winners were Marilyn Cotter, Jack Henson, Garry Sletten, Hank Browning, Dave Henager and Sam Samples.

Dick McGlothlin carried Gabe Plaza to a first-place finish in the gross division of the Desert Hills Men’s Golf Associatio­n best ball tournament on May 12. Second place went to the team of Miguel Zendejas and Mario Robles with Randy Norred and Richard Brown taking third place. In the net division of the best ball tournament, Frank Ybarra and Tony Steen were the winners with Roy Browning and Dustin Taulbee taking second place.

Jimmy Billisbach teamed with Paul Terry, Ron Sodlink and Rick Parks for a scrambling 1-under-par 71 to win the weekly Moose Lodge play on May 15 at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course. Second place went to the team of Bob Lauer, Bob Peterson, Donna Morris and Geri Forbes at even par. The third-place team finishers at 1-over-par 73 were Randy Stickles, Ron Hardin, Jim Flood and Linda Wies.

Garry Sletten was the first-place winner in the Pinky’s Pick mixed play at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course on May 16. Second place went to Al Johnson with Sam Samples in third. The remaining winners were Marilyn Cotter, Bill Slade, David Givens, Steve Parrish, Dave Henager and Hank Browning. The skin winners were David Doherty, David Givens, Garry Sletten, Raymond Butler, Al Johnson, George Christophe­r, Jack Henson, Sam Samples, Bill Griffith and Sandra Blair.

On May 15 at the Las Barrancas Golf Course, the Silver League gross score winners were Brian Healy and Rollie Harris. The net score winners were Mark Parks and Ed Gish. The team winners were Harold Poppen, Greg Beatie, Carl Riggs and Michael Costello.

On May 16 in the Mesa del Sol Men’s Wednesday Twilight League two-man net shamble, Jeff Buffmyer and Jerry Crump shot 31 and won on a scorecard playoff. Fred Blohm and Brandon Cushman, Ernie Jiminez and Robert Vaughan, and Mike Walters and Mitch Lebrecht also shot 31. With the win, Jerry Crump takes a big lead in the spring points race.

On May 16 at the Foothills Executive Golf Course, the Men’s League gross score winners were Rollie Harris and Larry Nicholson. The net score winners were Buddy and Jim Hartley. The team winners were Bill Taylor, Rick Wilcox, Conrad Eisenach and John Newberry.

Steve Parrish and Claude French were the two gross score flight winners in the Mesa Del Sol MGA mixed individual play on May 16. Hank Browning, Dave Doherty and Pinky Throckmort­on were the net score winners in the first flight and Claude French, Bill Slade, Frank Manson and Roger Brown were the net score winners in the second flight. The skin winners were Mary Kruse, Steve Parrish, Ray Butler, Dale Hoch, Frank Manson, Roger Brown, Dale Hoch, Bob Rehn, and Marilyn Cotter.

On May 17 at the Las Barrancas Golf Course, the Copper League gross score winners were Bill Taylor and Rollie Harris. The net score winners were Al Pittman and Mark Parks.

In the Mesa Del Sol Friday Twilight League play on May 18, the two-person net best ball winners were Karl Semler and Brian Anderson with a 27. Rich Fothergill and Scott Molloy, Mark Ford and Mark Leeds, and Marlene and Gary Golembiski tied for second by shooting a 30. Play begins each Friday at 5 p.m.

Jimmy Billisbach, Ron Harden, Dianna Bird, and Sandy Henson won the Moose Lodge weekly scramble play at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course on Tuesday with a 4-under-par 68. Second place was tied at 70 and the two teams that tied were Bob Lauer, Chuck Holland, Shirley Patterson and Barb Chambers, and Randy Stickles, Jim Forbes and Bud Hammond.

On Tuesday at the Las Barrancas Golf Course, the men’s silver league gross score winners were Brian Healy and John Cullen. The net score winners were Rick Wilcox and Ed Gish. The team winners were Mark Parks, Harry Stanley, Greg Beatie and Michael Costello.

On Wednesday at the Mesa Del Sol Golf Course, the Pinky’s Pick mixed play winners were Jack Parker, Steve Parrish, Bill Slade, Sam Samples, Jim Mitchell, Hank Browning and Ray Butler. The skin winners were Jack Parker, Steve Parrish, Garry Sletten, Bill Dowding, George Christophe­r, Hank Browning, Pinky Throckmort­on, Jack Henson, Bill Griffith, Dave Doherty, Bob Rehn, Sam Samples and Jack Henson.

On Wednesday at the Foothills Executive Golf Course, the men’s club gross score winners were Rollie Harris and Larry Nicholson. The net score winners were Jim Hartley and Jeff Sloboden. The team winners were Dennis Wagner, Michael Costello, Al Smith and Al Pittman.

Ted Neville from Tucson shot gross score rounds of 69 on Saturday followed by a 67 on Sunday to win the Western Amateur state qualifier played at the Yuma Golf and Country Club last weekend. Mark Pancrazi, from Yuma, was the second-place finisher with a two-day gross score total of 141. Other Yuma qualifiers were Ron Wood and Aaron Miller.

David Henager recorded a +9 quota score on Monday morning to win first place in the Mesa Del Sol weekly play on Monday morning with Hank Browning taking second place with a +8 quota score. Sandy Blair finished third and Garry Sletten finished fourth.

On Thursday at the Las Barrancas Golf Course, the copper league gross score winners were Brian Healy and Bill Taylor. The net score winners were Jack Joseph and Fred Okerholm. The team winners were Al Pittman, Ed Gish and Mark Hammons.

Hole-in-one congratula­tions are extended to Benny Benson for his ace on the second hole at the Foothills Executive Golf Course.

The next Desert Hills Men’s Club tournament will be played on June 16 with tee times starting at 8 a.m. The format will be pro points and players may call Bruce Clark 580-6436 for entry or additional informatio­n.
