District One board to hear proposed budget
An overview for employee raises and the 2018-2019 proposed budget are set to be presented Monday evening at the Yuma Elementary School District One board meeting.
The board will convene to conduct its monthly business at 5:30 p.m. in the boardroom at the district’s administrative offices, 450 W. 6th St.
A presentation will be given on 2017-2018 marketing and community engagement activities and Chief Financial Officer Denis Ponder will give the monthly enrollment and budget reports.
The board may take action on approving a new chief financial officer, as Ponder is stepping down to take a teaching position. A new director of budget and finance may also be approved. Other action items include approving the 20182019 Prop 301 performance plan and Superintendent Jamie Sheldahl’s 17-18 performance pay.
The board will approve items on its consent agenda in one motion, including: early kindergarten admissions and denials; personnel actions (hirings, transfers, salary adjustments, etc.); out-ofstate travel; payroll and expense vouchers; student activities and tax credits; donations; terms and conditions for accepting Building Renewal Grant funds; and meeting minutes.
Meetings of public and charter school boards are open to the public, but boards reserve the right to enter into executive sessions on any item on their agendas to seek legal advice. A copy of the agenda background material provided to board members (with the exception of material relating to possible executive sessions) is available for public inspection at Yuma School District One Administration Office, 450 W. 6th St.
