More work coming on Gila Ridge Road
The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for continued restrictions on Gila Ridge Road near the Interstate 8 and Araby Road traffic interchange improvement project.
Contractors continue to excavate an underground storm water system and retaining wall, and restrictions are scheduled to remain in place through June 29. These had been expected to end this week.
This includes the closure of Gila Ridge Road in both directions near the Tanimura and Antle Produce building entrance and the left-turn restriction onto Gila Ridge Road. Drivers can access businesses on Gila Ridge Road by using Avenue 3E.
Westbound traffic will be permitted on Gila Ridge Road after 5 p.m. Friday, June 22.
In addition, Yuma drivers should plan to use detour routes and allow plenty of extra travel time while these restrictions remain in place:
The eastbound I-8 offramp at Araby Road is closed until mid-August.
Araby Road continues to be reduced to one lane in both directions between 30th and 26th streets through fall 2018.
An 11-foot vehicle width restriction is in place for northbound and southbound traffic on Araby Road.
Alternate routes include Avenue 3E and 32nd Street. This phase of the project is scheduled for completion in fall 2018.
ADOT is building the second roundabout at I-8 and Araby Road (State Route 195) on the south side of the intersection.
