• Pres­i­dent Trump hailed the agree­ment he signed with Kim Jung Un in Sin­ga­pore on Tues­day as a vi­tal first step on the path lead­ing to a much safer world. Their new re­la­tion­ship is al­ready pay­ing div­i­dends. North Korea just of­fered to host peace talks be­tween the United States and Canada.

• The Wall Street Jour­nal re­ports the Cen­sus Bu­reau’s con­cern that the U.S. birth rate fell again for the eighth con­sec­u­tive year. Last week­end in Macy’s, I ac­tu­ally saw a preg­nant man­nequin at the Bev­erly Cen­ter. The ques­tion is, what kind of sick per­vert goes around knock­ing up man­nequins?

• Dukes of Haz­zard star John Sch­nei­der was sen­tenced to three days in jail in Los An­ge­les this week for miss­ing alimony pay­ments. They said he owes his ex-wife $140,000. He’s not the first South­erner to dis­cover just how ex­pen­sive it can be to se­cede from a union.
