A budget hearing will precede a meeting of the Yuma Union High School District governing board Wednesday evening.

The budget will be open to public comments during the hearing, which starts at 5:15 p.m. today at the library of Yuma High School, 400 S. 6th Ave. Persons with a disability may request a reasonable accommodation, such as sign language interpreter, by contacting the superintendent’s office at (928) 502-4600.

After the budget hearing, the board will move on to its regular business, which includes a bond update from facilities manager Jay Munoz. Construction improvements have been ongoing at Kofa High School, and the administrative offices are expected to move back to their Avenue A location once work is completed on the new buildings there.

Under its consent agenda, the board may approve agreements to enter into meal service contracts with both AzTech High School and the Educational Opportunity Center. Among other items is the renewal of procurement contracts and approval of 2018-2019 cooperative contract purchases.

The board is set to approve both the 2018-2019 budget and the 2019 Capital Plan, which is a document required by the School Facilities Board.

The board is planning a special meeting at noon July 18 in room M305 at Yuma High. Another special meeting is set for July 25, with a regular business meeting at 5:15 p.m. Aug. 8. The first day of classes for YUHSD is Aug. 2.
