COYEA scholarship recipients
The City of Yuma Employee’s Association board has announced the COYEA scholarship awards for 2018.
These COYEA scholarship recipients have excelled academically and in community service. The organization encourages and supports continued academic advancement and achievement. This year, COYEA awarded three $1,000 scholarships to deserving students.
• Kelsey Nicole Berger, daughter of COYEA member Patricia (and William) Berger — Yuma Police Department Animal Control Division. Berger is a recent graduate of Cibola High School with a 3.9 grade-point average. She documented extensive community service in her application and plans to attend AWC to work towards a nursing degree. Her goal is to become an RN at YRMC.
• Olivia Garcia, daughter of COYEA member Jose (and Joanna) Garcia — Public Works Department. Garcia is a recent graduate of Cibola High School with a 3.87 grade-point average. She plans to attend AWC in the fall where she wants to study psychology or social work. In addition to her school involvement, she listed several community service activities in her application.
• McKenna Good, daughter of COYEA member Janette (and Eddie) Good — Human Resources Department. Good is a 4.0 grade-point average transfer student from AWC to New Mexico State University, where she is now majoring in animal science. Her love for horses influenced her career goal, which is to open an equine imaging center in Yuma. She also listed very detailed community involvement in her application.
