From Sunday, July 29, through Saturday, August 4, the Yuma Police Department responded to 247 emergency calls for service, including:
• 6 general fire response
Including: A vehicle fire endangering a building, and various alarms.
• 1 mutual aid
Including: Called to assist Rural Metro with an emergency medical run in the County.
• 11 motor vehicle crashes
Including: 1 involving a power transformer, and 1 head-on crash.
• 216 other medical emergencies (serious to minor)
Including: 18 for difficulty breathing, 12 for chest pain, 29 for falls, 12 for unconscious people, 3 seizure cases, 3 possible stroke cases, 7 for intoxicated persons, 3 for people under the influence of drugs, 1 for a drug overdose, 17 for people with psychiatric problems, 6 for dehydration or heat illness, 2 for medical alarms, 1 for child locked in vehicle, 12 for altered or decreased level of consciousness, 3 for diabetic emergency, 14 for man down calls, 5 for uncontrolled bleeding, 1 for a person burned by hot water, 4 for bad headaches, 1 for a gunshot wound, 5 for assaults, 2 for back pain, 2 for abdominal pain, 3 pregnancy related, 1 for deceased person, 1 for alcohol withdrawals , 3 for lacerations, 1 for a person whose leg was run over by a wheelchair, 1 for a ring stuck on a finger, and other illnesses and injuries.
